Today was a long day...we got up at 10am and headed off to Warwick Castle. It was really neat to see a castle up close. We walked over to one area on the river and watched them launch a HUGE catapult. Apparantly this one was just recently finished being built. But it was neat to see one live, cuz like you see them in movies, like Lord of the Rings when they launch the heads (haha, Aunt Tammy!) Then we walked into the courtyard of the castle and went into the different areas that were open. It was really cool to walk thru a real medieval castle. We went up this one tower which had about a million stairs, but the view from it was amazing. Then Annette and I walked over to were they were going to do jousting. That was soo cool, I took a ton of pictures. It was a really neat show. They had the starting events, like hitting the rings and other little targets. Then they jousted alittle, with lots of staged stuff. Two of the knights fought with swords and such. It was really neat, tho we didn't get to stay the whole time, we had to leave to go to Stratford Upon Avon. I would have rather stayed at the castle but anyway...
So it was about a half hour ride from Warwick to Stratford. First we ate some McDonalds (yes again!) and then we hit a few shops along the way to Shakespeares birth place. Julia and I went thru it. It was pretty neat. Took lots of pictures of course. Then we went to a Teddy Bear Museum, it was really cool. Jim Hensen donated the original Fozzie Bear puppet to the museum, so of course that was the highlight for me. They also had like Paddington Bear, and the first washable teddy bear, bears that belonged to famous people. It was cute and fun. Then we walked over to the church where shakespeare was buried. That was really neat, the church was really pretty. Jes and I walked along Avon River for a bit and then went to a pub for dinner with two other girls, who I haven't mentioned, Chelsea and Christine. Then everyone in the program went to a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and saw Comedy of Errors. It was really good and very funny, but of course you have to be into that type of thing. Well really that is all that happened today...tomorrow we are probably going to go into town and walk around for something to do. Well all for now!
Love,
Missy
